Tuesdays and Thursdays

On June 2, 2004, I began my first year of college, and that’s when I met Iza. She was a classmate and friend—quiet and shy. She didn’t socialize much, and it was obvious that she came from a humble background. Often, she wouldn’t eat lunch. She didn’t talk a lot, but she was incredibly intelligent, always excelling in exams. One thing that puzzled me and my classmates was how, every Tuesday and Thursday, Iza became the opposite of her usual self. She was talkative, cheerful, and incredibly active in class. Those were the only days we would tease her because of how lively she became. Curious, we asked her why she behaved this way, but all she ever said was that Tuesdays and Thursdays were her favorite days, and they made her genuinely happy. We got used to her odd routine. However, on January 5, Iza suddenly stopped coming to class. We missed her playful energy on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as her impressive performance in exams. Worried, my friends and I decided to visit her house...
