To my confidant

To thee, a companion quietly close to my soul, parting is not the severing of bonds, but the quiet unfolding of presence that lingers beyond sight.

To the Quiet Reader

You walk with composed resilience, simple yet arresting, keen in mind and fervent in spirit. Too young to grasp it fully, yet already unfolding into someone remarkable; what seemed a loss was only a gentle prelude. And if these lines reach the one who knows where my words reside, then understand, they have always been written with you in mind.

He Who Confuses Her

Image
She has never been in a relationship, not because she didn’t have the chance, but because she has always been afraid of attachment. Afraid to dive into something she knows she isn’t ready for.  She fears herself and the idea of loving someone while still learning how to love her own soul. She is still carrying the weight of being a daughter with responsibilities she cannot set aside. She doesn’t want to commit just for the sake of saying she has someone, or for the fleeting thrill of "kilig." Then he came. He who confessed his feelings in front of many, yet failed to match the weight of his words. He who, instead of leading with clarity and courage, made her question her pace, her silence, her careful heart. He who subtly made her feel guilty for not giving in, for taking her time, for protecting the peace she has. She refuses to fall for that. She won’t be swayed by sweet words that lack substance. She won’t lower her standards for someone who only shows up when it is easy o...

Hapless Happiness

It’s desolating to live a life filled with vanity, disdain, and an unending cycle of misery. Although there are fleeting moments of triumph, they quickly fade, while mishaps feel endless. I try to motivate myself, feeding my thoughts with positivity; however, conflicts and hardships always seem to follow. What a life—no lasting joy, no breakthrough to lift me from these burdens. In truth, I am barely surviving. At present, life remains unbearably difficult. Despite my efforts, my family is still struggling. I find myself torn—I can't walk away from the very people who are both my deepest source of joy and the reason I sometimes want to disappear. Still, I choose to stay. I continue to endure. Yet with each passing day, the weight grows heavier, and honestly, I don’t know how much longer I can keep holding on.

Books

There is something irreplaceable about books—their scent, texture, and the tactile feel of turning pages.

Tuesdays and Thursdays

On June 2, 2004, I began my first year of college, and that’s when I met Iza. She was a classmate and friend—quiet and shy. She didn’t socialize much, and it was obvious that she came from a humble background. Often, she wouldn’t eat lunch. She didn’t talk a lot, but she was incredibly intelligent, always excelling in exams. One thing that puzzled me and my classmates was how, every Tuesday and Thursday, Iza became the opposite of her usual self. She was talkative, cheerful, and incredibly active in class. Those were the only days we would tease her because of how lively she became. Curious, we asked her why she behaved this way, but all she ever said was that Tuesdays and Thursdays were her favorite days, and they made her genuinely happy. We got used to her odd routine. However, on January 5, Iza suddenly stopped coming to class. We missed her playful energy on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as her impressive performance in exams. Worried, my friends and I decided to visit her house...

PRAGMATICS

  1. What is pragmatics? In the year 1938, an american philosopher Charles W. Morris posited that pragmatics is a branch of semiotics, the study of the contribution of signs to the interpretation process accentuating the well formed language structure and the coherent connection between language and context. In its simplest denotation, Pragmatics is the study of how language is used in context and how context influences the meaning of a person's linguistic utterances. Pragmatics is another branch of linguistics that deals with meaning and the way context bears upon it: The intended message expressed and conveyed in a communication appeals to the focal concern of pragmatics which is the way language users derive meanings from a particular kind of speech situation or context and being able to interpret, recognize, relate and comprehend the inferred meaning presented. Thus, pragmatics constitutes two vantage points: The first one is the implied and intented meaning that is not necessa...

TYPES OF QUALITATIVE METHODOLOGY

There are two most common qualitative methodology these are the case study and ethnographic study.  Case study Case study is one of the most familiar qualitative methodology used to probe the condition of a particular organization, individual, and entity by amalgamating all the information about the unit being studied. According to Johnson and Christensen (2000) a case study is a bounded system that tells a story to ascertain what complex things recur within that system. Based on Merriam-Webster, Stake (2008, pp. 119-120) stated that this bounded system also known as functioning unit is the very individual unit. Corresponding to this Flyvberg (2011) views Merriam-Webster's definition as explicit, simple and forthright, which defines a case study as a profound analysis of a unit of any subject bearing on developmental factors and environment. Sarantakos, 1993 asserts that a case study serves not merely as a supplemental methodology but an indispensable and unfettered research model....

British GQ: Helen Lewis interview to Jordan Peterson Analysis

A forthright and downright interrogation bring forth transparent argumentation of discretely rational perspective and discrepancy. Helen Lewis, one of the Atlantic magazine’s journalist and author of the book—Difficult Women: A History of Feminism in 11 Fights has interviewed the controversial influencer Jordan Peterson, a research clinical psychologist and professor at the leading University of Toronto, Canada. He is the author of bestselling book titled 12 Rules for Life: Antidote to Chaos, his book is seasoned with numerous credible sources from Dostoevsky, Jung, and Nietzsche that shows his well-founded ideas and knowledge appealing to ethos and logos. However, his robust bestselling book seems to be miscomprehended by many readers resorting to dissensions and criticisms. The argument between Lewis and Peterson was extrapoted from Peterson's book—The 12 Rules for Life, and their intensively in-depth argumentation was primarily circulated to the idea of Patriarchy followed by in...

HOW INFLUENCIAL NON-LITERARY LANGUAGE IS IN TODAY'S SOCIETY

Non-literary texts environ every facet of my life and any individual's life in a way that it forms an autonomous part of a publication in all divisions of the society. Ever since I was a child, newspapers, magazines, text books and other instructional materials have been a familiar sight to me, my father used to tell me that it is all educational and thereby useful in providing factual information and solutions to cater various human needs. When I learn how to read, I began noticing the disparity between non-literary language and literary language features. There distinct characteristics help me understand the role of non-literary and through this I appreciate literary texts which is more complex, creative and implicit in meaning. Consequently, knowing what relevance does non-literary language have will provide answers of how influencial it is in today's society as it generates both veracity and mendacity that bear upon how we perceive and interpret things directed to our under...
